After upgrading my USG40 to the latest firmware I noticed 2 problems. One I posted in the other topic related to that new firmware of the fact that under IP/MAC binding it no longer shows the name of the PC under description like it used to. A real pain so I now have to keep a paper list of all PCs names and their corresponding numbers. But that is a separate issue.
A larger problem I am having is that when I click on the firmware management tab it looks like it attempts to connect to MyZyxel.com for some reason. I don't have a MyZyxel.com account and I have no intention of getting one nor do I need one. This takes quite a while and just sits there. I assume that what it is doing is checking for a new firmware update. All well and good except that I don't need it to do that and I don't want it to do that.
It seems as though when I have no internet connection it fails with an error which locks up the whole router. This is getting to be a real pain because usually I am on that screen when I am having problems and am trying to reboot the router exactly because I don't have an internet connection. SO besides struggling with my ISP/modem over my connection I have to struggle with my router over trying to reboot it.
So is there a way to turn off this "feature" and get it to stop trying to communicate with MyZyxel.com all the time? Especially because I have no accounts there and really have no need for such communication? I can't help but think that there has to be a setting to turn this off.
