Hi All, its been a while...
I have a location that was recently upgraded to a 100/100 fiber connection. I have a few spare USGs laying around so I thought I'd throw the biggest one I have in; A USG 200. This location has probably around 50 network devices, but only a maximum of 5 active users. Most of the time, its just 2 people at this location. USG 200 definitely seems like overkill for this setup.
HOWEVER, I have a routed /29 which I have placed on the DMZ interface. I have disabled all anti-x, except ADP, and it is disabled on the DMZ interface. I also have a single policy route to disable NAT on the DMZ interface. Firewall rules are pretty simple, and there are no NAT rules (no port forwardings). Its about as simple as a setup as I can make it.
The problem is, I have a single server on one of the public IPs in the DMZ. There is a firewall rule in place to allow only the necessary services to reach the server. The server happens to be a streaming audio server. So far I have only had this setup at this location for a few days. Our streaming traffic is heaviest in the morning and dies down as the day progresses. The problem is the USG 200's CPU usage scales upward right along with the number of listeners. With around 400 listeners (about 40% of our bandwidth at our current bitrate) the USG's CPU usage has hit 70%. I think this thing is gonna run out of gas long before we hit max capacity.
So. What to replace it with? I'm open to suggestions.
I have a USG 60 in my possession, but when we bought it I quickly became disappointed knowing that you HAD to sign up for a cloud account to configure the darn thing. Personal preference-I really don't care to be forced into signing up for an account just to configure a local device. But from my understanding, that is pretty much the way it is these days, so I don't mind giving it another go if it will do the job. I really do not know how much difference there is in the hardware under the hood compared to the 200.
Would a 110 handle it?
Something even bigger?
