I made some mistakes in my testing [ http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r28949058-ZyWALL-USG-200-3.30-AQU.3-Released ]
When I reset to factory default and then reloaded my saved config I did not check to see if my Down/Up metrics were correct because I assumed that reloading my saved config would reload my ISP metrics --- so when I ran my tests it seemed like my WAN port had woken up as I was getting much superior results. Then uid://649954 had the GALL :) to request to see my config comparisons which FORCED me to take a another look and low and behold I found out that the Down/Up metrics had been changed to factory default settings ---- grrrrrrrr :( OK so I reset my Down/Up metrics to my ISP provided metrics and ran the tests again ...... well I am back to the same results I had with 3.30-AQU.2
With BWM disabled --- Down 57 Mbps Up 4 Mbps
With BWM enabled --- Down 3.97 Mbps Up 3.87 MbpsSo that is a very dramatic performance HIT with BWM enabled.
Yep I am aware that the Documentation [330AQQ3C0.PDF page 4] states to turn OFF BWM when running performance tests
8. Since BWM has been activated in system default configuration, please remember to turn off BWM before you do the performance testing. --- and quite frankly I do not understand why. With BWM enabled I do expect a performance hit BUT not that dramatic.
